From Chiang Mai, with loves !

I’ve never been to Chiang Mai >.<

Dream about going there, feel the cool weather, hop the elephant’s back and eat awesome Chiang Mai Sausages . Last week my sis and a groups of friends travel to Chiang Mai as a leisure trip. So full of everything with my real life  ( actually mean crappy busy ) all I can do is whine and ask her to buy presents for me.

True to her words, I got a lots of prezies. Yay!

My fav is Herb Basic brands skin care products. Smell heavenly and very unique . The ingredients are mostly vegetable based glycerin, beeswax , rice bran oil, and some particular flower or fruit oil.

Left to right ( back role)

1. Cherry hand cream.

2. Body cream ( Frangipani flower )

3.Honey Balm

4.Body cream ( Sai Yud flower)

5.Body Powder ( Sai Yud flower)

6. Revlon nail polish, ( just because they are cheap and my fav brand of nail polish )

Front role, water melon flavor lip balm, strawberry and watermelon yogurt soaps.

Who doesn’t buy t-shirts , when you back from Thailand ? Furthermore, I loooooove t-shirt. They are colorful, comfortable, easy to wash , and no need to iron .

Books , a pretty cotton pouch and a pink leather phone pendent.

Kinky Friedman, man-oh-man….the moment I saw Kinky Friedman’s book, I want to kiss my sis. He is so damn  funny and witty. Never seen his books in singapore before, and I am hunting one for quite a long time. According to my sis, Chiang Mai has a lots of old book store and a lots more fancy than singapore book stores.

Another book ” Cool Dead Man ” is also an interesting book. Its an obituary book, never think I would own a books of obituaries about people I don’t know . Anyway! they are cool , so its ok 🙂

Although I am stuck in singapore while my sis enjoy awesome getaway , I am a happy camper now .

Thank you big sis! ❤

Pea leaves and green shoots !!

Hmmm, pea leaves or bean leaves ??????

Pea leaves sound cuter 😛

Lately I found out that beans are pretty easy to grow, not sure of legumes result because I am not gonna wait until they grow pods. My focus is on young shoots and green leaves. They are highly nutritious and so easy to get , just pick some straight from the pot in front of my flat.

I use some leftover beans from my white bean soup and decided to grow some. They become strong and healthy with willowy long stems and dark green leaves. This is going to provide fresh greens for my kids. Fresh, easy, cheap and home grown organic greens . Cool huh!

Furthermore, they are going to bear some pretty flower if I don’t cut the shoots to feed my kids all the time. haha!  All my kids love to eat the dark green freshness. Between full time job and half time studying, I can’t make a time to go groceries shopping. These little home grown shrubs and occasional sprouting ensure that my kids get enough share of their veggies. Sometimes I wonder what will my neighbors think of me. A strange women tending her plants, cleaning and taking out rubbish at 1am around midnight . Geez !

Not a lots of leaves left. On the side note, my aloe vera are getting huge and juicy.

De De ” sniff sniff, hmm smell good, mommy bring me some veggie .Yum!”

Ke Ke ” nom nom nom”

Dat ass >.>

Scabber ” sniff sniff, ha! That green stuffs again. Did she forget that I love to baby carrot 😦 “

Not so bad after all.

Coroplast Playground!

I have been dreaming about building a playground for my kids. Too busy lately , don’t have a chance to get down to business. Finally , have free time….so set my foot down and getting started by buying supplies and shaping my idea.Turn out to be quite awesome and I am happy with my end result 🙂

Its only take around one hour to finish up everything and I just love the size of its. My first idea is to make it very colorful but after much thinking, I decided to go classy and use only purple and cream color .

Here it is!!!!

Things I used:

1. Silver color duct tape from Home Fix …. s$4.15
2. 5 sheets of Coroplast plastic board from Popular…..s$3.15
3. a few paper clips.

The coroplast sheets are very big, so I cut them into halves and start with duct tape.

Tape one side first, tape opposite side at other end.

Will look like this, with duct tape at alternate connection.

Don’t tape two last end, give a little slit with pen knife to fold the plastic sheet neatly. Just use some strong paper clips to secure two ends.

End product. I use purple and cream color coroplast sheets.

Little Scabber asking me to open sunflower container 😀

Can fold it and keep neatly.

Can also drag one end into the middle and make separate playground for two hammies. This is a sample model for De De and Ke Ke

Easy to make, cheap, and can expand as much as u wish.
Supervise a bit first to check that are they going to try to bite the duct tape. I don’t leave the any duct tape end facing the inside, make it impossible to bite off.
Relatively heavy for the hammy to lift it and escape.
Each sheet is 40cm in height and 50cm in width.
So far, me and my hammies are happy with it. ^_^

Scabber go to beach =]

My family decided to go to Woodland Water Front Park and have a picnic and a stroll. So, we pack up a few cans of juices,   sandwiches, hot dogs and my hand made sushi . I decided to bring Scabber together with us, so that he can have some fresh air and new environment . Meeting with new people will do some good for my skittish little boy.

He was very excited at first, scatter around in his pink carrier and sniff and sniff and sniff. He did hate the ride, I think the car engine sound and the speed make him nervous. When we reach the park, I let him around on the grass and on the beach. He seem very curious , I am very happy to go out together with him. Until I saw some doggies are walking our way, cute as they are but I am afraid that if they bark or growl suddenly , my Scabber will be scare. So, we stay clear of the doggies’ way 😛

Scabber and his interesting expression !!!!

Jetty, wild willowy weeds , water and a gloomy weather .

Cooking, Relaxing and Family Times !

How Bachelors Cook – or Not

Two confirmed bachelors sat talking. Their conversation drifted from politics to cooking. ‘I got a cook book once’, said the first, ‘but I could never do anything with it.’

‘Too much fancy cooking in it, eh?’ asked the second. ‘You said it. Every one of the recipes began the same way – ‘Take a clean dish and…’

Cheesy joke 😀  Cooking can be a nightmare for some, but a relaxing pass time for me. The first 19 years of my bratty life, I never try anything more than a fry egg in the kitchen. My mom is a great cook and she really love to cook and feed us. After my siblings go abroad to study, her main focus is on me and she mostly cook whatever I like to eat. So, I get fat LOL j/k . She always complain that I am very choosy, yeah..I use to hate spicy food, oily food, red meat and sour soups ( very common and loved myanmar dish) But as I grew older, I get bolder . Eat out together with friends, try new cuisine, as the world become narrower I international food become less exotic.

I pick up my passion in cooking around 4 years ago. As I move out and trying to start new chapter of my life, I try to adapt to the new environment as quickly as I can, try everything to stand on my own. No more breakfast waiting for me every morning, no more packed lunch box near my bag, no more warm dinner on the table at night, drinks, fruits and snacks will not be magically sitting there just because I open the fridge door. Haizzzz If I want to eat any home cook meal, its on me from groceries shopping to cleaning up after the meal. Tough! But I learn things as I go. Not only my dear siblings but also my friends agreed that I have a flair for cooking. Now my hobby include of collecting cook books and watching cooking shows .

For everyday meals, I batch up some easy chinese and myanmar dishes or simple pasta or macaroni soups. For lunch box, I love to pack fry rice ( quick, easy and need to wash only one pan) so I fry rice in many different styles. I occasionally put my heart in some complex dishes that take times and work for special occasion like birthdays, new years or some holidays especially family times. Although we didn’t celebrate Christmas at home( do have fun with friends outside), my brother get his Christmas mood on and bought a very nice Black Forest Ham ( a whole thigh ). I am too lazy to do anything more specials, so decided to make some steam veggie, whipped potatoes and gravy to go with it. Dinner is a success , accompanied by sparkling grape juice and white wine that my sister received as Christmas present .

Baked ham, little gravy jar and mozzarella cheese !

White wine and appetizer( melted cheddar cheese and tomatoes paste on taco wrap )  come up

Here come the sparkling grape juice.

Finally whipped potatoes and steam veggie to complete the meal. Yes, the red heart is my mom LOLz, she don’t look very happy because my dad is busy and can’t join us for dinner.

This is easy, only gravy need times to prepare. Whipped potatoes is simply delicious and chilled white wine really goes well. The problem is only between me and my brother, I drink a little more than half of a bottle of  wine. I haven’t touch any alcohol for a while now, its like newbie again and I was drunk after dinner ROFLMAO….while we have pudding for dessert , I was already talking silly . After talking silly, curse at some unidentified objects, laugh at some people for a while…my light out, sprawl on bed and sleep it off. Funny and crazy night. I rarely get drunk, I can drink to the limit and always stop at that. I hate to see myself as talkative, lame joking, cursing, silly chit and I turn into one if I get drunk.

Well, need to wise up with that.

And I am going to make BBQ and hot pot for new year eve and ticking groceries list start from now .

New Food Mix ! Versele-Laga Hamster Nature

Testing new food brand Versele-Laga Hamster Nature !

As my kid’s food is almost finished , I have to be prudence and buy a pack of food mix. I decided to buy Versele-Laga since they are making a good name. Bought at $9.85 from Pet’s Street. My sister have been making fun of me because before that day I told her that I will no longer pay around $9 and buy those olive oil bottle, they are just ridiculously expensive, and if I want to make any salad or pasta in the future I will just use canola oil ( NTUC brand) Rant and rant and rant. She said I rather feed my hamsters than feed the member of my family. Ooops Guilty 😛

Actually this brand has another version, Mini Hamster Nature for dwarfs hamsters. I take a look and those pieces are super tiny LOLz. I check a fruits contents etc, not much of a difference. I think they just cut smaller pieces for dwarfies . I just pick up this one because my gals are not very tiny and delicate, they can be very strong when its come to foods and I believe in giving them bigger and harder pieces to trim their teeth. They use to feed on Harry Hamster Foods, which in fact have bigger pieces than Versele-Laga, I just break up several extra large pieces for them. No problemo , but no sweet dry fruits like bananas and raisins for them . Will be picking out 😀 Sad story brah!!!! Still have my organic seed mix to mix in with this commercial foods, so I don’t worry that much !

So, this is the front. I love the hammy in the pic very much. Crouching teddy bear ❤

Review time !!

My reaction??? Smell disgusting , not sure of origin( although i suspect yeast ) its was like rotten pizza 😛 The food don’t look very appetizing , contains a lots of crunchy color pieces, not very clear small pieces that lookalike dry fruits or dry veg or nuts or something like that . wth ? I am also not very  happy of unclear ingredient lists . I will give 5/10 .

My kids reaction??? Scabber as a crunchy color pieces lover, love it enormously. He eat those moon shape pieces first , then some banana chips. He is a very choosy boy and that make me happy to see him eating enthusiastically. My gals De De & Ke Ke are ok with it. They are not very keen on those grains inside, leaves all those behind but overall is not that bad. They still eat those organic grains first ( sure they really love my organic seed mix ) then eat other stuffs from the pack.

Now I have a mix reaction about this brand of food, I like the fact that they love to eat it but I still think some stuffs like FOS, beetroot and raisins are not that great . They are very sweetening and I have an worry over Ke Ke for diabetes , so dilemma dilemma . The smell…….although unpleasant to me, seem like attract the hamsters. I always hide some special pieces( like pumpkin seeds, nuts)  around their house, to make them look for the food. After  I hide some pieces around their house, they can find it pretty fast now. Good for them !!

Quail egg ! Treats Treats Treats :P

I have been busy lately and haven’t done any special treats for them except from simple baby carrots and walnuts. Guilty as charged :p I bought some quail eggs for my stir fry vegetables today, apart from the boring veggie I give them quail egg. Scabber really love quail egg and always eat enthusiastically . De De mouth a bite or two only while Ke Ke did eat more happily. Scabber devour them well, but my lazy boy was half asleep while eating his share of egg pieces and go straight back to sleep after that. Good life ha!

Chopped and ready to serve.

De De taking a whiff and wondering what is this smell ☜(⌒▽⌒)☞

Scabber eating his quail egg with half closed eye lids, his butt is still inside his hamhead . Too lazy to come out all the way .  -_-

Loving the greens!

They all love pretty greens. Wheat grass are as nutritious as they are pretty.I am so glad to see they are a success story, now I am more confident to grow another round of green.

Grass under sunlight.

Scabber having his way with the grass.

Another successful green story is Parsley. I bought JP40 100% natural dry Parsley today, decided to give them some. They all love it, Scabber finish off his in 5 minutes 🙂  Apigenin, a chemical found in great quantities in parsley, has been found to have potent anti-cancer activity. Maybe that why many believe parsley is a good tonic for hamsters. Come to food and treats, I always believe moderation is the key . So, I am going to give them a few every time I change their food bowl.

Its Jolly brand, 15 g.

The back, stating its only supplementary food.

Whats inside. I only found dry stems, wonder all the leaves go inside spice bottles for human consumption? LOL dunno, smell quite nice ::sniff sniff::

Oh Glee ! Bring crazy to the whole new level !

This is crazy and funny. And of course offensive much ? Men sometimes so insecure about their sexuality , the mentioning of TV shows such as Glee or Sex and The City make them cringe . This vid slam it  and stereotype it again. But hey!! gotta admit its pretty funny and I do love stereotypical and offensive jokes.

Think Glee is so gay? Should go and watch Will & Grace or The Lair , but hey still nothing  as gay as Twilight ! Just for fun 😛

As a Chris Colfer fan, I am always bias about Glee! I do love musicals. Friends and family always think thats very strange of me, but from Moulin Rouge to  Chicago , I have some of my fav musicals. Now Glee, its abit weak compare to my other favs   musicals but still sells because of Chris Colfer. What can I say, he capture me haha

He is a good actor and a good singer. Black Bird sung by him is so far my fav in the whole series. A kiss with Blaine? Its ok 🙂 only ok because its not me 😛

His moves:

His look:

His bitchiness :

Not bad huh?

LOL, I can be worse than teenage gal . Glee have so many haters and fantards, not sure which side stronger . Me don’t belong in neither, but there was one moment I really really hate because they have mouth diarrhea and try to sing The All American Reject’s song ” Give You Hell” . Worse thing everrr, I rather listen to sond of flushing toilet than Glee destroying one of my fav song, by my fav band 😦

Anyway Black Bird for ya!

Wheat Grass! Whole new level for a noobie!

Wheat Grass, they are just very attractive and interesting.

I have been dreaming about growing wheat grass for awhile, mainly because their aesthetic look really please me. Green patch of grass and their upright green shoots are their attractive appeal. I do like to drink the wheat grass juice mix with apple juice, only commercial drinks from the supermarket of course. Juicing wheat grass myself seem like a little far fetch for me, but I would love to give a pot of young wheat grass to each of my hamsters.

First, I read up about germinating wheat grain and growing process. Predictable huh? My habit is to read first, do later 😛 is my fav website to do read up about sprouting. Their steps by steps guide, comprehensive videos and pictures are very helpful for noobie like me. Baby steps, baby steps!!! First step is to obtain unpolish wheat grain and believe me its a real bitch to find any sort of those products in Singapore. Organic products aisle in NTUC is my only option, and I too busy to go to Cuppage Plaza( Organic Paradise) to buy better choices of organic goodies. Maybe one day……LOL

First , I bought the unpolish organic wheat grain . Its a trusted brand and cost me S$ 4.90. Quite expensive for small little bag of grain *_*

Clean under running tap water thoroughly, and soak them in water. I use colander because it is much simpler and easy to wash and drain.

Its after 12 hours. I soak them overnight, but I have a habit of waking up 1 or 2 times at night , so easy for me to change the water . The grains are starting to germinate and I can see the tiny little sprouts coming out from the place that is suppose to be germ. Tiny but its a good start.

After another 12 hours. Water the is a bit cloudy by the time I hit home. The tiny sprouts become more prominent, this is the sign of new life .

I am overjoy to see adorable sprouts spruce out of my grains 😀 This is after 12 more hours. I feed a spoonful to each of my kids, they sure love it .

I decided to try two ways in growing my grass, one will be just like the way they show in Spread the grains on baby clothes and water every 12 hours( I might be watering them every 8 hours though) . I don’t have any baby clothes or coconut fiber , so I just use dish washer . LOLOL Crazy substitute , but I decided the most important function is to absorb the water very well and give breathing room for the roots. So here it is, and I will be covering the grain for maybe one or two more they until the young grass prominently emerge.

For the leftover sprouts, I just spread them on rich soil in the pot. Will be watering them 2 times a day. I just wish to experience the patch of green grass coming out under the bright of the sunlight.

Now we wait.

I will be updating this post as my grass grows !

There is a big difference between the little ones inside my kitchen , and the little one outside my corridor . The later get enough sunlight and nutrients from rich soils, all the green shoots are as pretty as it can be. The little ones inside the kitchen are still white little sprouts , but I am still hopeful for them to become taller and give some lights to let them photosynthesis.

I took these pics this morning under sunlight .
